Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club For More Information: rowing@pvrowing.com
A: NRP stands for "North Riverfront Park." Located in the North End of Springfield, this site is perfect for our mission of bringing healthy activities and lifestyles to the greater Springfield community and embrace river-based activities. Bordered on the north by the North End Bridge and Rt. 20, on the west by the Connecticut River, and on the east by a four mile bike path, this unique property is perfectly situated for rowing, canoeing, kayaking, biking and running.
Q: What businesses operate at NRP?
A: The Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club (PVRC) is overseeing operations of the facility and running the rowing-related programs. PVRC has also partnered with other local businesses to provide additional services to the community. More details will be available soon.
Q: What activities are being planned for NRP?
A: Since NRP has loads of potential, the PVRC plans to grow many programs and events in the coming years. As we fundraise, staff, and find partners, we hope to expand rowing programs (on the river and indoor rowing machines), provide canoe/kayak opportunities and support beneficial use of the bike path and surrounding area (running, biking, etc).
Q: How do PVRC programs and members benefit from the move to North Riverfront Park?
A: There are lots of great opportunities that come with NRP. Indoor boat storage allows for better maintenance of equipment and easier justification for improving the fleet in the coming years. With PVRC overseeing the NRP operations, we expect that available rowing times will be greatly expanded when compared to the limited hours in previous years. With indoor facilities and ergometers, we expect to run programs which will have consistent predictable activities despite the weather. PVRC will also be able to run more educational and outreach efforts from this wonderful location.
Q: What will I need to pay to participate in NRP activities?
A: When NRP is open, it is available to EVERYONE to visit, enjoy and observe. There will be several programs provided for free via grant funding and other fundraising efforts. But, there will also be several opportunities to participate in paid programming experiences. The details of programs and events will be updated every year.
